Bob and Lloyd Barnes are twin brothers, living a reclusive lifestyle with their parents in the Cariboo region of British Columbia's Interior. Both are completely self-taught artists who paint subjects from their imaginations directly onto masonite
board.
Rather than using a typical artist's easel, they generally work in small sizes with the board lying flat on a table. One brother may start a painting at the top and meticulously work his way down without using a sketch. The other brother
might then add in some more details to the painting. They therefore usually work in very close conjunction with each other.A small painting may take up to four days to complete.
Besides painting, they live off the land, grow their own vegetables,
and take care of twenty cats. They paint for the sheer love of it, and for the pleasure it brings to others who are fortunate enough to enjoy their finely crafted work.
