Mary lives on the north shore of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where she works out of her studio, paintings mostly in acrylics. Since she was young she has been inspired by the rugged west coast. These inspirations have led her to want to express herself in many artistic forms. After years of working with different mediums she decided to pursue formal training in the visual arts. She attended the Vancouver Academy of Arts and entered a number of shows winning awards of excellence from the Federation of Canadian Artists. This jump started her career as a professional artist.
Mary’s visual art is an expression of the landscapes around her. Working in acrylics she uses vibrant colours, light, and shadows, glazing layer after layer to achieve a glow and mood to her paintings. She also incorporates plaster and other mixed media to many of her paintings to create texture, dimension, and mood.
