As a child, Normand Boisvert was quiet only when he was drawing.

Bosivert's father – a shopkeeper – had a hard time keeping the boy busy in his grocery store in a town in Quebec.

Boisvert was punished almost daily in school for drawing instead of studying. Disgusted because he was not allowed to do what he liked best, he quit school early.

At age seventeen, he became a full-time painter in an empty convenience store his father had abandoned.

The young artist returned to school for two six-month stints studying art, the second of which was the Université de Quebec in Trois Rivieres, Quebec,

But the art student was not popular with the instructors because he was disruptive, so he quit again.

In the '70s he taught art. Then he bought a house, built a two-storey studio in it and opened his own painting school.

In recent years, he has not taught, and has returned to full-time painting.

Normand Boisvert is a prominent Quebec and Canadian artist. Rendez-vous Art Gallery is proud to be his representative in western Canada.

Corporate collections include Bell Canada, Canadian Pacicfic, Hydro Quebec, Imperial Tobacco, Royal Canadian Mint, and Nabisco.
